Anyone working with large volumes of beverages knows how valuable fast yet careful handling can actually be. This was abundantly clear to Kempf, the experienced beverage solutions
provider, when it enlisted the help of Rema Tec and Interroll to add another warehouse section - consisting of two LIFO warehouse modules with lanes 8 or 9 pallets deep and a
total of 782 pallet spaces - to its beverage logistics centre (GLZ) in Balingen, for fast interim storage of not yet required goods. Seven or eight Interroll LIFO speed
controllers, which - unlike conventional FIFO speed controllers - run freely in an uphill direction - were installed in each lane. The main benefit is that there is
no braking resistance when the pallets are loaded onto the roller conveyors, which increases the level of safety and speed of the pallet loading and unloading process. Welcome
spin-off effects include greater ease of operation for forklift drivers and reduced strain on the actual speed controllers.

projects they recently completed as successful partners. After installing a complete logistics system based on flow storage technology and empty crate sortation at the Kempf
logistics centres of Offenburg and Balingen, the second project to fit out and extend the Balingen rack storage warehouse focused on the installation of LIFO speed controllers. It
too was a huge success. Kempf's LIFO rack storage warehouse is experiencing up to 50% higher storage speeds in the new extension.
